Despite the very changeable weather the fishing has been good with some cracking Brown trout being caught as well.

Damsel nymph’s and blood worms are accounting for the majority of Rainbows caught, Nigel White used a Damsels to catch a total of 22 fish on one day alone, so to did Mike Long catching and returning 18 Rainbows.

In the next few weeks we will be seeing the first hatches of olive’s and spinners which will bring all the big Browns and Rainbows to feed close to and on the surface providing some of the best fly fishing your ever likely to experience “I for one can’t wait.

Fishing Report January 09

Fishing over the last week has been exceptional, The fish are fighting extremely hard and good numbers are being caught “Winter fishing at its best.
On the milder and calmer day’s fish are rising well to hatches of buzzers but the best results seem to be from intermediate line’s fishing a damsel with a slow retrieve.
Blood worm’s fished deep and almost static are also getting good results.
The weekend saw the January round of the winter league competitions which saw a total of 123 fish coming to the net which I believe is a fishery record for a day’s fishing.
Matthew Jones came first with a total of 15 fish caught on the day he also leads the Championship with 19 points, Neil Watson Came a close second catching 14 fish with a total bag weight of 29lb just 2lb short of Matthew’s.
