Fished for about 5 hours on a 4 fish ticket the other night (25/6/08). Had 3 average rainbows and 1 for 7lb 12, also had a 5lb+ brown. I phoned Jamie and asked if he would come down with the camera when i realised i had the brown, which he very kindly did, there were no other anglers on the lake to ask to use my cameraphone (pics are up in gallery).
I fished a sagey brown coloured buzzer, size 16, about 7ft under an indicator. All takes were pretty confident.

Kamasan B110 16
Black Thread
Light brown flexi-floss body
Black head of tying thread
Varnished a couple of times

Hope it works for you and possibly see you on the lake

Hi Mate

Sorry for the delay in my reply , problems with BT.
Sounds like you had a good time , Jamie was telling me about your beast. I have been taking quite a few fish on the small buzzers especially Black with a Silver Rib . All my Buzzers are tied on Kamsan Hooks B110 as they are strong and reliable unlike the B100 which tend to straighten especially when you hit into fish at distance . I have been having a lot of fish from peg 9 really close into the reeds . I have had a few good Browns from there the last couple of weeks .
I am on the lake most weekends , i will catch up with you one day.

Regards

Kevin

Would like to tie some up but all my tying gear has been knicked! Souldnt have left it in the boot of the car really, it was over the garage having work done on it. Owner said he'd knock the price equivalent off my bill, had a fair bit of kit, capes and what not so got 250 quid off, only had to pay him 300. Just gonna be a pain in the arse building my collection again though

Got back from wedding in Buckinghamshire this afternoon so popped down to the lake for an evening ticket. Nothing going until 9-ish and then only managed 1 brown, plenty of fish rising around the longer platforms. Loads of big, black buzzers coming up and hatching into some pale coloured fly (my entomology sucks sorry). Fished a parachute adams, had some offers but i conly conected to that brown. May go down for a day session tomorrow, see how tired i am in the morning.

If i do go down i'll post tomorrow night.

Hi Mate

Sorry to hear about your loss , never mind you and that trout are becoming celebrities , your picture is in the evening post tonight , you will be signing autographs next . Cracking looking fish though definately a fish to be proud of .
I am fishing Ravens Nest up in Monmouthshire this weekend if you have never fished there it's definately worth a go . The average size is a round the 2lb mark with some monsters lurking . Buzzers are deadly even in the coloured water. Not as challenging as Garnffrwd or even as beautiful but its setting is lovely deep in the Forest Of Dean.

Cath you on the lake one day .

Regards

Kevin

Yeh! Seen the pic, one of the girls in work brought it in for me today. Have offered autographs for a fiver but no bugger is interested! I'm called the 'pipe and slipper man' in work cos i go fishing and im generally a boring sod! (not going out on the lash and stuff)

A mate of mine is back from Newtown for the weekend so we're planning on going somewhere, not sure where he fancies, am hoping to go to GFD or out on our boat. Have put it up on the Usk reservoir for the year so want to get the use out of it.

Fished GFD sunday afternoon last weekend, nothing much happening till late evening. Diawl Bach's been going quite well for alot of ppl though. Had 1 rainbow on a Dawsons Olive, 1 off platform 14 on a diawl and then a 2-3lb-ish brown on a diawl opposite 14. The wind had been blowing most of the day in that direction so there were several browns swimming around in all the stuff that had collected very tight into the bank, had a few plucks but only managed to hook the one.

Lemme know how you get on at Ravens Nest and i'll post if we go down to GFD.
Tight lines!

Dai
